TASVs are created primarily by laminating 1/4" and 1/2" polished glass strips in a helical pattern between a round base and top. When Sidney first created the series he used opaque glass that enhanced the overall silhouette of each piece. After 13 years as an artist he found a new, low iron, water white glass recently introduced into the glass industry. This clear glass allowed him to increase his color pallet of dyed adhesives. As the series progressed, round sections were pre-laminated and polished before inclusion into the body of the sculpture.
