The first Solid Vase Form was created in 1993. Unlike the Plate Glass Vase series, where negative space is created between circular layers and filled with a helical pattern of glass bars, the Solid Vase Forms fill the spaces with circles. This creates a physically solid vessel as well as a visually solid canvas where color and light are mixed within the vessel.
They are created by laminating plate glass circles together using dyed and pigmented ultraviolet adhesive. The sections of some pieces have been cut and polished then puzzled back together, to play with positive and negative space. Two, three and, at one time four sides, of some pieces have been cut and polished to reveal an interior landscape of color.
